Our Review Method

A score should show its working.

Candy Atlas reviews are structured editorial assessments. We separate desk research from hands-on play and explain the evidence behind every conclusion.

01

Document

Before we open the app, we collect the developer's published description, platform list, pricing model, age rating, update history, and stated mechanics. This creates a baseline we can check against reality.

02

Play or observe

Hands-on testing is labelled when completed. Otherwise, our desk review uses official materials and clearly identified public documentation. We never pretend to have played what we haven't.

03

Score with context

Six criteria shape the final rating. The number is a concise editorial summary — not a scientific measurement, not a promise that everyone will agree, and certainly not a financial claim.

Six Questions

The complete rubric.

Each category is considered on a ten-point editorial scale, then balanced against the type of experience the game is trying to offer.

01

Board clarity

Can you read the next move in under three seconds? We inspect contrast, tile distinction, goal visibility, animation speed, and whether effects obscure useful information rather than celebrate it.

02

Mobile feel

Does it work with one hand on a crowded bus? We consider tap accuracy, loading times, battery drain over 30 minutes, and whether the game respects both a 5-minute break and a 45-minute session.

03

Difficulty and pacing

We track how challenge grows, where progress stalls, and whether failure teaches something useful. We also note the exact level where "generous" becomes "grindy" — because it always does.

04

Pricing clarity

Are costs and limits understandable before you pay? We document advertised prices, currencies, energy systems, subscriptions, ads, and whether purchase prompts are easy to read — or deliberately confusing.

05

Interruption pressure

How many taps between "open app" and "actually play"? We count pop-ups, event banners, notification nudges, wait timers, and the distance between your intention and the game's next request for money or attention.

06

Originality and care

Does it bring a new idea, or just a new skin? We look for meaningful mechanical twists, polished feedback, accessible options, and a coherent reason to return that isn't just FOMO.

Corrections, independence, and scope

Candy Atlas does not accept payment for rankings. If a review copy, access code, or material relationship affects coverage, it is disclosed on that page. We correct factual errors when they are identified and distinguish opinions from verifiable product details.

This concept site does not currently publish real commercial reviews. The sample titles and scores demonstrate the intended editorial structure. If you spot an error or want to challenge a score, we welcome the conversation.
